I love love love these guys so much. They have such a different sound than a lot of bands that I've heard. It's a mixture of soft rap and singing, I don't really know what genre to call them. The instruments have such a chill vibe to it but the rap makes it a little more upbeat and the two surprisingly fit together really well. All of their songs have fun lyrics and actual meaning, which you can't find a lot of in rap recently. If they ever come to Austin, which may be rare since they're so small, I definitely would NOT pass it up. I actually like all of their songs but my three favorites would have to be Radio, Long Hair Don't Care, and Escape!
This is one song that isn't on Itunes or Spotify so that's cool; Step Right Up
Here's my ALL time fav that's super fun to listen to in the car: Radio
My mind has just been changed like 3 times. When I saw they were on the ACL lineup I was really excited because a lot of people told me they were good! So I listened to a few of their songs and LOVED them! However I wasn't really listening that closely I guess because when I decided to do this post on them I realized I should try to better understand their music. And wow. My favorite song, So American, is just a weird song. Which I guess fits perfectly with the band. I think it is a little tongue and cheek but it has this underlying depressing, harsh message that Americans are all crazy (which is true) and represent misguided power and greed. Powerful song. Weird music video. Would be SUCH a good live show because of their weird personality. Definitely going to their ACL fest show. But back to this music video.. it actually doesn't make any sense to me at all. I think I've watched it a good 5 times. So check it out and please help me understand!!
I feel like this music video has more of a story line.. this is one of my other favorites, the Sun!
I don't think I have gone a day without listening or talking about music in a very long time, maybe ever. I listen to different genres, depending on my mood, where I am, or what I am doing! The only genre I absolutely just won't listen to is heavy metal and I can only handle reggae music for the duration of one or two songs. My guilty pleasure is probably pop music. I need upbeat and easy music to process and it does that for me! When I'm driving I like to listen to country music, Josh Abbott Band, Miranda Lambert, Reckless Kelley you name it. My homework jams include Avett Brothers, Civil Wars, Bob Schneider and Ben Rector. I like to keep it alternative and smooth when I'm trying to focus. For some reason, I can't listen to music before I go to bed because I always listen/focus on the lyrics too much that I get more wide awake searching for good music to sleep to. While I'm writing this post I am listening to 2002 by Bob Schneider. Bob Schneider does it ALL. He has his slow jams and his rockin' out songs that never fail to make me laugh and put me in a better mood. This is his most popular one..
